on coping with bad news

We were talking last night at bible study about how to handle the ups and downs of the Christian life. Just when you think everything is going well (or worse, when you think everything is as bad as it can get), the unexpected news comes in.

Is it enough just to look to God’s faithfulness, or are there times when you need to have the encouragement of people around you as well? It seems that God can encourage Christians through times of crisis in a lot of different ways.

One of the most significant ideas that came forward was that heaven is actually a much better place to be than earth: it’s all too common to think that someone who has died is much worse off than we who are still on earth, but the reality is in fact the opposite.

Sometimes it’s good to be reminded of that.
