Not wanting to watch all of King Kong at a 9:30pm session on a school-night (this would have seen us leave the cinema around 12:45am, by my reckoning), this was the only remaining choice of movie. Note to self: don’t listen to a review in MX Newspaper over all the other reviews.
Really, it was the over-direction that killed the movie, nothing sits still for more than a couple of sections without a new cut, or a fresh camera angle. This works a treat to lessen the impact of some of the disturbing content in the film, but doesn’t enhance the storytelling at all. Keira Knightley was mis-cast, I thought: the supporting cast was the best part about the film: Christopher Walken was probably my favourite. Overall, though: don’t waste your time.
