Book: The Innocent Man John Grisham in his first book of non-fiction: the story of a man, wrongly convicted for murder, and the problems in the US justice system. I prefer Grisham when he’s writing fiction – having read the blurb, I knew too much of where the book was going.
Quikfix coffee, sydney domestic terminal 2 Allpress coffee. Fast moving order process here: grind to order, helpful staff. Overlooks the tarmac. Sells food, coffee beans, and snacks. Coffee is quite good. Hot, but not too hot, just the right texture. A good find as you race to your flight.
Diva coffee and tea house, mirage / gold coast Merlo coffee. Quite a formal looking place inside, with some undercover outdoor seating that’s a bit more relaxed. Freshly made juice here that’s excellent, an amazing range of chocolates, cakes and pastries. The decaf espresso was a bit of a disaster: flat, bitter, watery: hard to […]
Artemis coffee, marina mirage growers’ markets, gold coast Artemis coffee. Coffee – a decaf latte and a decaf short black – good, a little on the […]

A solid range of menu offerings: breakfast, lunch, even some desserts. The food takes a […]

At least the sledging in New Zealand is polite.
Movie: 3:10 to Yuma It’s a western, and it’s a remake of an older film (though I haven’t seen the older film). Christian Bale and Russell Crowe are well matched on screen; a compelling, though violent, story is told: one of redemption and honour. At the end, though, has anyone really learned anything? Is being […]
Book: Show Them No Mercy The Old Testament talks about a lot of killing – and the New Testament talks about a lot of love and forgiveness. How is it possible to reconcile the two views? This book has four different authors – C.S. Cowles, Eugene H. Merrill, Daniel L. Gard, and Tremper Longman III […]
