mcmenu song

While trying to run this morning, I spotted a discarded McDonalds Hot Cakes container, and started singing the mc-menu song to myself: something I haven’t thought of in many years. Thanks to the power of Google, I found the rest of the lyrics, which I record here for posterity:

I’ll have a big mac quater pounder fillet of fish mcfeast as well a junior burger and cheese burger chicken mcnuggets 6 or 9 with 4 delicious sauces and some golden french fries small and large and to drink an orange juice plus coke no make that diet coke a fanta sprite thee kinds of shakes chocolate strawberry and vanilla coffee tea hot apple pie and cookies and 3 different sundaes hot choc fudge hot caramel or maybe strawberry yeah my favourite maybe breakfast hash browns english muffins jam or marmalade 2 sausage egg mcmuffins please plus hotcakes with some maple syrup bacon egg mcmuffin or big breakfast or some scrambled eggs I love mcdonalds good time great taste and I get this all at one place….

I managed to get as far as the 3 different sundaes before the wheels fell off. It’s scary how well something that you learned as a child can stick in your head!

  1. Even scarier, I can remember all the words to the Big Mac ingredients promo, where you could score a free Big Mac (and I think also a Test Cricket poster) if you said it fast enough and without mistakes – “two all beef patties special sauce lettuce cheese pickles onions in a sesame seed bun”. I’ve retained this in my head for over 30 years…

  2. Hmmm I thought it finished “…*on* a sesame seed bun.” ? Admittedly *in* makes more sense. I’m disturbed that not only do I know it off my heart, I’m engaging in discussion on the correct wording. At the McChuckers where I performed this feat, the prize was just a cricket poster. Even more disturbing is that I don’t follow sport; I was just a crazy, mixed up kid. Thankfully it’s been over a decade, possibly two, since I last bought anything from said establishment.

  3. Hmmm – intially I thought it was *on* also, but when I typed it out I thought, “Surely it’s ‘in’ – that would make more sense.” Now I’m leaning back towards ‘on’, not ‘in’. I could be wrong about the free Big Mac… I never actually tried to win (except against my brother to see who could say it faster) and it was a looooong time ago. It may well have been just the cricket poster.

I can’t believe I’m even having this conversation. Influenced by advertising? Not I!
