Movie: Star Trek
I should point out that although I’m conversant with the Star Trek franchise and its history, I wouldn’t consider myself to be a “Trekkie” as such. I know people who have a bit of the Klingon language on board, and that is really not me.
With that out of the way, let me say that I thought this was a really enjoyable film. It’s not often that you leave the cinema wanting to go straight back in and watch the film again, but this film has that sense about it.
As everyone has said, it’s a “rebooting” of the Star Trek franchise: there’s a time travel sub-plot that allows director J J Abrams to take a lot of liberties, while still including enough hat-tips to the original series to keep fans (at least casual fans like myself) impressed.
If you’re a fan of the original series of films, or have any desire to see a good sci-fi film, then give this a go.
