Book: How to Read the Psalms
Allan recommended this book as a good introduction to the subject that we’re doing next week. The lecturer (Tremper Longman III) wrote it as a way for non-academics to come to grips with the Psalms, and it certainly delivers.
It’s a short book, at around 160 pages. The chapters are short, and yet it manages to introduce a lot of the concepts involved in understanding how a Christian should read the Psalms.
If you’ve ever wondered about why people find this thousands-year-old Hebrew poetry book so comforting – and relevant, reading this book is a good way to start.
