Movie: 3:10 to Yuma
It’s a western, and it’s a remake of an older film (though I haven’t seen the older film). Christian Bale and Russell Crowe are well matched on screen; a compelling, though violent, story is told: one of redemption and honour. At the end, though, has anyone really learned anything? Is being the typical macho male portrayed in the western a sensible goal? I’m reminded of a line from the fifth element: "Honour’s killed millions of people, it hasn’t saved a single one."
