Movie: The Box
I’ve been a fan of Richard Kelly since I first heard about the website that accompanied Donnie Darko – at the time, it was really groundbreaking to have a site that complimented a movie and even added extra depth to the film.
After the hard-to-follow Southland Tales, The Box represents some more mature film-making. There are still some cuts between scenes where it feels that something has been deleted, and in some aspects of the plot, but it seems that this was by design.
The film has a great atmosphere and sense of menace, and will leave you thinking for days afterward. I’m looking forward to re-watching it, perhaps when it’s released on DVD.
