some course materials I’m working on

A sign of how quickly technology moves, and how slowly courses can sometimes be updated, the topic that I have been writing for this soon-to-be-launched course all about how Christians can use technology in their ministry is an update to “how to save time by using a dictaphone”.

Does anyone know if voice-recognition software is a viable alternative to a keyboard in the kind of places (like cafes) where there’s background noise? I’ve had some advice that the background noise is a deal-breaker, but I’d happily hear more on the subject.
