Must be my week to catch up on Nicolas Cage films; Bringing Out the Dead is a movie in many ways similar to Taxi Driver. John Goodman is again surprisingly good – I’d had him typecast as Roseanne’s husband, but clearly this is not the case. A film that doesn’t have much of a plot, but that’s not really the point – we trace Cage’s character around the streets of New York, and see the darker side of the city through the eyes of an ambulance driver.
