You’ve gotta love this city

Thanks to everyone who’s emailed in their well-wishes for kel’s mum. We’re looking forward to seeing her again this weekend, as close to full recovery as you can be so soon after surgery.

Last weekend was spent with some unusual (for me) company: I learned first-hand what it’s like to be looking after puppies. Let me say at the outset that puppies, like babies, can’t tell you what’s wrong with them. Like babies, there’s a lot of cleaning up to do. And like children, puppies are much easier to handle when you can give them back once you tire of playing with them.

In this case, though, the period of time we had available with the puppies enabled me to tire of playing with them a number of times, and start thinking through what it might be like to have my own high-maintenance, non-returnable creatures. And while it was a lot of fun, and definitely rewarding, I’m now enjoying my freedom from looking after little non-returnable creatures quite a lot.

How I spent part of my weekend. Sydney certainly can put on a pleasant vista when it puts its mind to it.
