Movie: War of the Worlds
Spielberg here tells a story so solidly that even the crazy off-screen antics can’t detract from it. One of the most enjoyable alien films for a long time. Takes a similar approach to Signs, keeping the Martians off-screen for much of the film. Ultimately, it’s more about the lead character’s journey to being a better parent than about the aliens. Be warned: not a movie for the squeamish.
