Chipiron mountain coffee. Yes, it’s a truck stop, but it’s clean, well-lit, and the food is actually quite good. Don’t be too put off that it shares its building with a McDonald’s, that’s par for the course
Coffee is made with an automatic machine for the shot, and then the milk is added. Surprisingly good, especially considering where we are, and the standards a café has to reach to sell coffee on the f3.
Update: Probably best to try Oliver’s instead: I think I caught them on an unusually good day.
Really? My parents went there and they said it was terrible!
Olivers, also at the F3 service centre, ain’t bad, and is much better than normal truckstop coffee.
There’s only so much you can expect from coffee at a truck stop: this was quite drinkable, and so better than expected.
Is Olivers southbound or northbound? Coolabah is (as I said) in the McDonalds part of the stop.
I’ve been to both Olivers and Coolabah. Coolabah was very average (even for a truckstop) but I will admit I do miss Boston Market which was originally there. Mark is right, Olivers is quite good, but unfortunately I would rather go to McDonalds than Coolabah. Jury’s out? K 🙂
Olivers was southbound. Got a nice break in before we encountered the 10km traffic jam at Ourimbah. Gotta love the F3.
I was going to get Coke rather than risk service centre coffee, but Oliver’s is so ideologically pure that they don’t even sell it. It’s health food, juice, water, coffee. That’s it.
I’ll definitely try Olivers next time.
[…] my parents describe the coffee here. It’s the second worst they’ve ever had. (although see cafedave for a second […]
[…] espresso coffee. The internet has spoken, and it has told the truth. This is indeed the better venue for coffee purchase at this roadside […]
AFTER PAYING FOR A BREAKFAST MEAL AND WAITING FOR 20-25 MIN,I ASKED TO WHEN I WOULD GET MY MEAL,WITH A BLANK GAZE THE STAFF MEMBER REPLIED “I DO NOT KNOW”,SO BEING A TRUCK DRIVER ON A SCHEDULE I DECIDED TO GET MY MONEY BACK AND DEPART,ANOTHER PROBLEM THE PERSON WHO CAN DO REFUNDS CAN NOT BE FOUND,AFTER A FURTHER 10 MIN SHE TURN UP AND A REFUND WAS GIVEN WITH NO APOLOGY.WOULD RECOMMEND THAT IF YOU ARE HUNGRY GO SOME WHERE YOU WILL GET SERVED!!0830 7/1/09

Had a pepper steak pie from the f3 cafe today. Found it was cool to touch. Staff member got manager who accused me of influencing an enquiring customer next to me. Refused to rectify or refund, denied problem then said she had work to do. Handed back my pie which I refused to accept. That’s one place I won’t be eating at! Improperly heated pies and food poisoning are regular buddies.
This is the worst cafe in Australia toilets disgusting no paper, no hand drying facilities, workers, food, table cleanliness are substandard DON’T risk your health.
We have stopped on route at the Coolabah Tree Cafe. Previously we have been very happy with the meals we have purchased. On Saturday 9th April 2011, I ordered a breakfast. It was the worst I have ever been served. We were told there was a delay in the kitchen, of about 10 mins. We were happy to wait. After half an hour, we eventually got our meal. The sausage on the plate was cooked to a crisp, as was the hashbrown. The toast was still white!!! and only had butter in the middle of it. The chips were cold as well. The only part of the brekkie I was able to eat, was the centre of the “toast’ and the yolks of the eggs!!!! I took the plate back to the counter, and told them I was not happy with my order, but was not prepared to wait while they redid my order.
Now called Cafe F3 – had a terrible experience there a while ago – got ripped off and overcharged for the morning special. Anyway, tried again today, nice fresh looking caeser wrap. Haven’t been off the toilet all day – food poisoning! Never again.
The food is crap it's discussing it was dry don't recommend to any1
