Lars and the Real Girl is one of those movies best watched at a Dendy with a crowd of people who find it funny, and touching all at once. This helps get over the awkwardness that ensues when the title character orders a doll on the internet, then proceeds to introduce it to his family as his new girlfriend. Though perhaps this premise sounds like “weekend at bernies”, in fact it’s a drama about the nature of human relationships, and has something of an inspirational feel to it. If you can handle the concepts (it’s rated PG), and like arthouse films, then you’ll likely enjoy it.
just saw Lars and the Real Girl, Gosling did a great job playing out his character’s psychological transition from totally dysfunctional to somewhat functional; it was nice of them to leave out the predictable small-town drama as well
