DVD: Night Watch More than just a russian version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, this is an action movie on the edge of horror that manages to be somewhat character-driven. Not for the squeamish, but an interesting tale of the blur between good and evil.

Video: (4 hour) Hamlet
Video: Hamlet It’s been almost ten years since I saw this last, and much has changed since then. My ability to understand Shakespeare has improved and worsened. Improved, in that I can better follow what’s being said, and the lessons of life that are presented therein, worsened in that I struggle more to follow the …
Serenity
DVD: Serenity Watched this on DVD, having already seen it at the movies. It stands up well, although on the small screen, it actually feels smaller, and seems to move through faster. Still has a great sense of humour, good character interplay, and is enjoyable to watch.
DVD: Plan 9 from Outer Space
DVD: Plan 9 from Outer Space Called the worst film ever made, and perhaps this is fair, this is the science fiction tale of a group of aliens and their sinister plot. Watchable mainly for how poorly made it is, it has stood the test of time quite well.
DVD: Walk the Line
DVD: Walk the Line Tells the story of part of the life of Johnny Cash. Good performances, a good story: especially the insights into family life.
TV: Gosford Park
TV: Gosford Park A very clever film, telling a story of the aristocracy gathered at a country estate and their servants. Well put together, great storytelling and camera work, and a complex puzzle to keep whodunnit fans guessing.
DVD: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
DVD: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Has some funny moments, but is not without an overabundance of adult materials. If people have recommended it to you, you’ll probably find it entertaining, but it’s far from a clean movie.
DVD: Alexander

DVD: Mr. & Mrs. Smith
DVD: Mr. & Mrs. Smith Brad Pitt still can’t really act, but this role – like the other roles that he excels at – doesn’t require much from him. Entertaining action movie with some amusing lines and a romantic subplot: you find yourself barracking for the couple.
DVD: Yes, Prime Minister
DVD: Yes, Prime Minister (seasons 1 and 2). Watching Jim, Humphrey, and Bernard again is one of life’s simple pleasures. Sir Humphrey: “Yes, but even though they probably certainly know that you probably wouldn’t, they don’t certainly know that, although you probably wouldn’t, there is no probability that you certainly would.”
