House – Season 1

DVD: The Usual Suspects
DVD: The Usual Suspects An old staple, this kept me company while I ploughed through some housework – I still notice the odd subtlety that I haven’t spotted in previous viewings.
DVD: Ross Noble – Unrealtime
DVD: Ross Noble: Unrealtime An amazing sequence of improvisational comedy, although quite crass in places. Two shows on two DVD’s, with a few special features showing that perhaps Ross is like this all the time.
DVD: Into the Woods
DVD: Into the Woods At first, Sondheim’s melodies are off-putting, but it soon settles into the background. One of my favourite musicals; somehow I’d forgotten much of the plot, and so it was like watching it for the first time all over again. "Agony" is still an awesome song, although not everyone watching it appreciated …
DVD: Cellular
DVD: Cellular Looks like it will be a fairly mindless B-grade action movie, and it is, but it’s still quite watchable, and there’s enough suspense to keep it interesting.
DVD: A Very Long Engagement
DVD: A Very Long Engagement Amazing visually, great character interplay, a story that draws the viewer in; being a French film, there’s more adult content than some viewers would be comfortable with; shows the great cost of going to war.
DVD: Coach Carter
DVD: Coach CarterA by the numbers high-school drama. Samuel L. Jackson gives a good performance – a more complex character than he usually portrays. Watchable, not much thinking required. A good movie to recover from the flu to.
DVD: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
DVD: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Worth a repeat viewing. There’s a lot of truth about relationships to be gleaned from this film.
DVD: The Princess Bride
DVD: The Princess Bride What better way to spend an evening than to watch this movie with your wife while cooking dinner for her. Timeless film, but probably could benefit from subtitles so I could follow those few lines I hadn’t already memorised. Rangehoods can be pretty noisy things at times.
DVD: Anger Management
DVD: Anger Management Another Adam Sandler movie, in the traditional sense. Usual cast, usual type of humour, but it somehow manages to be entertaining in spite of itself. The West Side Story songs seemed to fit particularly well.
