Doing some translating exercises at lunch: getting used to the new vocab, while trying not to forget the old stuff. New word – genitive singular masculine “this” is toutou in greek. In this sentence, the next word is “tou”.
I’m staring at the word, trying to work out what it means. Staring, thinking, “Is this a new word? What could it mean? It look a lot like “this” – maybe there’s a mistake in the textbook…”
It’s probably a whole minute before I realise – “Oh. It’s ‘the’. Oops!”.
