Blue Mountains Coffee Roaster Coffee. 197 Katoomba St, Katoomba. This place was referred by an old work colleague, who gave me his list of picks from around Sydney – this was an add-on, and it’s taken me a while to get around to it. I didn’t have much hope for a cafe that shares office space with a hat shop, but this is a misconception.
There is only a small break in the wall that lets customers walk from one space to the other. The cafe itself is an upmarket space – my favourite artwork on the wall was a photo from decades ago – a picture taken of the audience at a sporting event where (almost) everyone is wearing hats.
The food appears to be taken very seriously here: I didn’t get a chance to try it this visit, but the takeaway decaf latte was really good – worth a repeat visit, and a contender for best coffee in Katoomba.
