Ikuzzina café, north sydney Segafredo coffee. Cheery sandwich bar, well shaded under an office building. Friendly staff, radio in the kitchen overwhelmed by traffic noise. Looks like it’s definitely the segafredo factor for me. This one was a little more watery than the one earlier in the day. Good fruit salad, though – with pear!

Café regioni, north sydney
Café regioni, north sydney Segafredo coffee. Pedestrians on Berry St woulod be familiar with the sign 45 years’ experience in every cup. Very chatty staff, a great experience for the first-time visitor: encouragement to become a regular. I’m increasingly realising that i’m not a fan of segafredo coffee: its flavour is not working for me. …
Mangia miller, north sydney
Mangia miller, north sydney Schibello coffee. Better known for its lunchtime pizza haunt, it also sells coffee, toast and various biscotti. The barista is open to talkinjg about coffee, schibello being the best they’ve tried there. Coffee was a bit hot, but otherwise good, including the milk texture: i’m starting to distinguish one brand from …
Bar 21 café, north sydney
Bar 21 café, north sydney Piazza d’oro coffee. A lot of seating for such a small location: denison st, near a subway store and a boost juice bar. Efficient, friendly, but not too keen for a chat. Surprisingly, a good temperature – the first for a while. Coffee is actually pleasant – well above average …

Toofab café, cronulla La casa del café coffee. The first of the cafes in my book of cafes that has changed hands since the book was published, this place seems to have a breakfast and lunch focus. Staff are constantly chatting to each other, while some kids run around the ample outdoor seating that surrounds …
Gecko café restaurant, brighton
Gecko café restaurant, brighton Illy coffee. Overlooking the beach, floor to ceiling windows give a spectacular view of the beach and the road. Radio plays loudly in the background, but can’t kill the mood created by the sleek, modern interior. There’s also some outdoor seating to be had – 60 people or so in all. …
Caffe marco, burwood
Caffe marco, burwood Piazza d’oro coffee. Italian decore throughout, with the staff wearing soccer uniforms. A widescreen tv softly brings a soccer game to the café, but if you sit facing away from the screen, you can still ignore it, if you choose. Coffee is smooth: a strong shot for the regulard sized coffees, and …
Mickey potts coffee and tea, burwood
Mickey potts coffee and tea, burwood Crave coffee. Another café in burwood westfield, one of the few that’s open before 8am. Lots of comfortable-looking seating, and friendly staff. A few other items on the menu; cakes and rolls, mostly. Not a bad cup, but I suspect there’s better to be had in burwood: they bill …

Café è vero, mount st, nth sydney Grinders coffee. In the foyer of the MLC building.High energy music is piped in loudly enough to drown out the sound of voices in the ample seating, and of people talking as they walk into the building for work.
